Deering Estate Seafood Festival
Every year Deering Estates in Miami, Florida throws a Seafood Festival right on the bay. As a big seafood lover I was in heaven jumping from one tent to the next. There were stone crabs, snow crabs, every type of way to serve shrimp, sushi, etc. The desserts were just as good with the traditional South Florida favorite, key lime pie and the most wonderful guava cheesecake. It was a fun day with friends and the heat was on, no spring for us in South Florida, its was in the 80s and hot, and finding that perfect shade or sitting by the bay for some breeze was a must. There was dancing and historical tours of the Deering Estate, and just taking in the beautiful South Florida scenery. All and all a fun Sunday.

Fun Item of the Day
I have a special place in my heart for the television show Mad Men because of my love for history. The plot of the show is good don't get me wrong, but what I really appreciate about the show is the time period, the clothes (!!), and the set decor. I've done two previous posts on Mad Men here & here, and I had to do another as I found these great illustrations by Stanley Chow.
On another more serious note, Stanley Chow has created a print Geisha Girl and the Bonsai, and all proceeds from the sale of the print will go to Japan Tsunami Appeal.

Hair Salon Adventure
Short post today as while you are reading this I am probably getting my hair cut and highlighted. How short will I go, you'll just have to see?! I also gave up on growing my highlights out for the ombre effect, because not having my hair done since September finally overcame me, and the highlights won. Now I'm trying out a new salon in South Beach and I'm hoping, well no praying that my hair cut and highlights will come out like I planned. Unfortunately, I've had more disappointing/just okay moments at a salon then happy/magical moments, and my last visit to a salon ended with me in tears after sitting practically all day in a salon chair (6-7 hours at the salon, it was a miserable day and I had to come in the next day so they could fix my hair). It was a prestigious salon, and I swore never to step foot in that salon again. So, lets just hope that I will be all smiles come Friday afternoon. And since I will be right on the beach front I'll make sure to take some great pictures of all the South Beach glory for Monday's post!
