La Vita e Bella

The beauty of The Sartorialist is that you can travel the world and admire a variety of stylish people without ever having to leave your couch. Far from being just a place of inspiration, the blog allows you to play the casual street observer with a twist. You can appreciate the beauty of the surroundings and the intricate details of an outfit for however long you want. The moment isn't fleeting, and that is the beauty of the captured image.
So to my great enjoyment, The Sartorialist posted a video commenting on his evolution of becoming a photographer and gave us a sneak peek at a day shooting around the city. It's really interesting to note that he began to take photos without real training, and it gives me hope in my adventure into photography. My favorite part of the short video was a moment when he asked to take a photo of a fashionable young lady, and with a slight hint of attitude she asked "what's it for?" A short introduction, and the "Oh" said everything.
    Enjoy the video!

Hi Giselle,

Thanks for stopping by my blog!

I saw this video on The Sartorialist the other day and IT IS AMAZING. Like you, I really enjoyed hearing that he really just picked up his camera and started shooting...it's definitely an inspiring story! I love how his pictures are so fresh, and he just looks for a certain "it" factor in his subjects, not necessarily the people with the most stylish outfits. His work is beautiful!

P.S. In response to your question, you can focus the background of a photo by holding down the button to take the photo halfway until it focuses, or you can switch to manual focus if that doesn't work (there should be a little switch on your lens). Then you can just adjust the very end of your lens to focus exactly where you want it, and it won't focus automatically when you try to take the picture.
